We then did chapter 4 Vocal for The Outsiders. We read chapter 4, and as we read, the students wrote down two signposts, along with the page number on sticky notes, then put them on the study guide pages for chapter 4. We also worked on the study guide pages for chapter 4. We also made character charts. The students had to write down at least 7 significant actions, and the reasons why the character did it. They need to include the page number where they found reason for the action. Example: Character --Significant Action--Reasons why I think s/he did it Darry--He yelled at Ponyboy for coming home late.--I think he yelled at Ponyboy because he was worried and doesn't want Ponyboy to be thrown into a boys' home (50). We also had a discussion about if Johnny killing Bob was justified or not. If it was self defense or murder?
